Doug W. Carlson's Obituary
Douglas Wayne Carlson, age 65, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019. He was born September 9, 1953 in Muskegon to Jerry and Betty (McCauley) Carlson. Doug was a graduate of Spring Lake High School in 1971. He worked for B & B Design in Grand Haven for over 30 years. Doug was a good golfer and bowler. He loved to travel and snowbird in Arizona and was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan. He was a member of the Mesa Buckhorn Elks Lodge #2656 in Arizona. On June 17, 1986, he married the former Vicki L. DeYoung in Grand Haven. She survives him along with 2 children: Kellie (Rick Vredeveld) Carlson of Grand Haven, Teresa (Nathan Oliver) Clark of Chicago, IL; granddaughter, Josie Oliver; father, Jerry Carlson of Muskegon; brother, Dana (Nancy) Nuismer of Grand Rapids; sister, Diane (Gary) Carlson of Grand Haven; nieces and nephew: Cari (Dan), Shaun (Mikiala), Amanda (Aaron), Ashley (Johnny), Kelly (Jeff); and his beloved canine, Phoenix. Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Carlson. According to Doug’s wishes, there will be no services. Memorials to the Harbor Hospice Foundation will be appreciated.
