Mr. Douglas R. Alexander's Obituary
Douglas R. Alexander, 72, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 15th, 2020. Doug was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on April 16th, 1948, to Douglas Ralph and Gwendolyn (Rutledge) Alexander. He grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. His family moved to Connecticut, where Doug graduated from Wilton High School in Wilton, Connecticut. He attended North Park University in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated in 1970. While attending North Park, he met the love of his life, Nancy Wagner. They married in 1970 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They have lived in Muskegon for 48 years, where Doug worked as an Accountant owning his own business. Nancy survives him along with his sons, David John Alexander and Daniel Robert Alexander. Grandchildren, Dylan John Alexander, Devan Francesca Alexander, Connor Douglas Alexander, Lauren Taylor Alexander, and great-granddaughter, Kinslee Jean Alexander. Doug was devoted to his family and would do anything for them. He coached football and baseball for both his children and grandchildren. He was their biggest fan, and he supported all of their activities: football, basketball, soccer, rugby, equestrian events, swim team, track, vocal, and band concerts. It was the joy of his life to spend time with his family. He was our rock. Doug also enjoyed playing golf with friends and family but being on his boat was his greatest form of relaxation. He loved Lake Michigan and cruising on Mona Lake. He made many lasting friends through boating days, and Doug had a special place in his heart for them. Doug was faithful to his church, Forest Park Covenant Church. He served multiple positions over the many years he attended. Doug also leaves behind beloved family members, brothers Don (Vicki) Alexander, David (Rosemarie) Alexander; sister, Deborah (Clarence) Classen; sister-in-law, Mary (James) Moyes; brother-in-law, Timothy Dobb. And many nieces and nephews who he dearly loved. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law John and Ruth Wagner, sister-in-law Marcia (Wagner) Dobb, and brother-in-law James Brian Johnson. A service to remember and celebrates Doug’s life will be held Saturday, June 19, at 11:00 AM at Forest Park Covenant Church, 3815 Henry St., Muskegon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Contributions in Doug’s memory may be made to Forest Park Covenant Church or the Muskegon Rescue Mission.
