My deepest and sincerest condolensces to the family. Mr. Gilbert gave us the great honor to have sat down to interview him and was nothing but generous in sharing his stories at LOOK. He is truly an American legend. I cannot express how grateful we were to have found him in Michigan and to have spent the short time we had talking to him. On behalf of my collegues around the world, we are deeply saddened and indebted to Mr. Gilbert and his family for giving us the opportunity to hear his many tales behind the creation of iconic American art through photography.
