Mr. Douglas William Peer's Obituary
Mr. Douglas William Peer, 53, passed away May 9th, 2015 in Taylor, MI. Doug was born February 3, 1962. In Dearborn, MI and moved to the Muskegon area in 1990. He worked as a welder for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #174, enjoyed buying and fixing old cars, watching old classic movies, especially John Wayne movies, and wood working. On May 23rd, 1997 Doug married Michele L. Murphy, and she survives him along with 5 children, Ashley “Jo” Smrcina, Macaully (Emily) Smrcina, Megan Peer, Katelyn Peer, and Douglas Peer II; 1 grandson, Nathan Smrcina; his father, John “Jack” Peer; his mother, Gail Peer; 4 brothers, Dennis Peer, Daniel Peer, David (Amanda) Peer, and Glen Peer; 1 sister; Kathleen (Scott) Salewski; Parent-in-laws, Terry and Deb Murphy; and a brother-in-law, Terry Murphy Jr. The funeral service for Doug will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 17th, at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church, 1568 W. Giles Rd., with the Rev. Dr. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. Visitation at the Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210, will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Saturday, and 1 hour prior to the service Sunday at the church.
