Mr. Douglas John Smith's Obituary
Mr. Douglas J. “Doug” Smith, 62, passed away unexpectedly January 10, 2017 at his home. He was born November 19, 1954 to Frank E. and Lucille (Visscher) Smith in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. Doug as a machinist at Teledyne Continental Motors and AutoCam before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. He is survived by 2 children, Meagan (John) Jewett, Steve (Brenna) Smith; 4 grandchildren, Brenden and Lilly Schoonbeck, Jaxon and Makayla Jewett; his father, Frank E. Smith; 3 sisters, Christi (Brad) DeLong, Kathy Smith and Karen Smith; his best friend and the love of his life, Lisa Engdahl; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Smith, and his brother, Steve “Tiny” Smith. A memorial service for Doug will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 14, at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210.
