Douglas H. "Bussy" Swanson's Obituary
Douglas “Bussy” H. Swanson, age 75, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 15, 2020. He was born on December 9, 1944 to Gustav and Evaline (Anderson) Swanson in Muskegon, MI and has lived here his whole life. He was a proud veteran, serving his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He earned his associate degree from Muskegon Community College. He retired from MAISD after 30 plus years, where he worked as a computer operations manager. On April 22, 1967 he married the love of his life, Judith Curtice in Muskegon, MI at St. Mary’s Church. Together they cherished nearly 53 years of marriage filled with love and laughter. Doug was a member of the VFW Post 446 and served on the Muskegon County Honor Guard for several years. He took pride in honoring the veterans that had fallen before him. Doug was known to be an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. You could usually find him working in his yard or admiring nature. Above all things, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He loved supporting them and taking part in many of their activities. Doug will always be remembered for his passionate personality and his dry jokester sense of humor. He was a caring and tender-loving soul who will be missed by all that knew him, especially his cat, Lacy. He is survived by his wife, Judith “Judi” Swanson; 3 children, Michelle (Robert) Heimbuch, Courtney (William) Scruggs and Brett (Laura) Swanson; 8 grandchildren, Zachary, Caleb, Mairin, Asher, Emerson, Rhyer, Elaina and Claudia; 5 siblings, Shirlee (Chuck) Mason, Deanna Swanson, Dennis (Donna) Swanson, Richard “Dick” Swanson and Delano “Del” (Sharon) Swanson. He is preceded in death by his parents. A Private Family Service will take place. Arrangements entrusted to The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Cremation & Funeral Services, 6291 S.
