Douglas Wilkins' Obituary
Douglas Wilkins, age 63, of Spring Lake and formerly of Hillsdale passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008, at a Muskegon hospital. He was born June 20, 1944, in Toledo, OH, to Harold and Mary Jane (Holloway) Wilkins, and he married the former Anna L. Zimmerman on January 17, 1965, in Hillsdale. She preceded him in death on December 23, 1984.
Mr. Wilkins was a 1962 graduate of Hillsdale High School and a lifelong Hillsdale resident, having recently moved to Spring Lake to be near his son. He was formerly employed as a utility worker for Michigan Gas Utilities, and he had also worked as a driver for the city of Hillsdale’s Dial-a-Ride service and also for Frank Beck Chevrolet. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Kelly (Mark) Reynolds of Athens, MI; a son, Dan (Lisa) Wilkins of Spring Lake, MI; three grandchildren: Skyla Reynolds and Kristi and Kevin Wilkins; and a sister, Dixie (Jack) Donley of Reed City, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; his parents; and a brother, Richard Wilkins.
