Douglas Norwood Brondyke's Obituary
Douglas Norwood Brondyke of 63430 W. Fish Lake Road, Sturgis, MI, 49091, formerly of Grand Haven passed into the presence of his Lord Friday, Dec. 29, 2006. He was 81.
Douglas was born in Muskegon Dec. 9, 1925 the son of the late Harry and Julia Brondyke. He married Margery Martin on July 4, 1953 in Wabash, IN.
Mr. Brondyke served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received a BS from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC and an MA from Michigan State University. He was a teacher and administrator in the Grand Haven Public Schools for nearly thirty years. He retired in 1983.
Mr. Brondyke was a dedicated Christian. He was a charter member of the Black Lake Baptist Church of Muskegon. He served on the boards of Black Lake Baptist and Robinson Baptist Church of Grand Haven. He was currently a member of Fish Lake Bible Church of Sturgis. He taught Sunday School for many years, as well as serving in many other capacities in these churches.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, five brothers, Robert, Donald Victor, Philip, Herman, and Harry, and one sister, Donna Mae.
He is survived by his wife, four children, Karin (T.J.) Turner of Sugar Hill, GA, Rev. Timothy (Mary Beth) Brondyke of Sturgis, Brent (Debra) Brondyke of Rocky Mount, NC, and Nikki (Daniel) Vanderberg of Whitehall; twelve grandchildren Tara Turner (Kent) Martindale of, Jared, Jana, Kyle, and Corey Turner of Sugar Hill, GA, Jonathan, Jessica, and Josiah Brondyke of Sturgis, Mikah and Evan Brondyke of Rocky Mount, NC, and Alyssa and Cassie Vanderberg of Whitehall; two brothers, Donald Atwood of Spring Lake and Arnold of Spring Lake; and four sisters, Lois Brondyke, Beth (the late Elwood) McMillan, and Anna Mae (Dewey) Phillips of Muskegon, and Janet (Andrew) Nelson of Grand Haven.
The funeral will be held at the VanZantwyck, Bartels, and Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven at twelve noon on Tuesday, Jan. 2. There will be a visitation preceeding at 11:00 a.m.
