Dr. Doru Nace's Obituary
Dr. Doru Nace passed away early Friday morning, October 7, 2011 after a long (8 years), brave, and heroic battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Bucharest, Romania, attended the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest where he got his Masters of Science Degree. He later received his Ph.D. in Engineering/Dynamic Systems. He married the former Manuela Mihu and they came to the USA in 1989. He lived in New York City until 2000 when he and his wife moved to Muskegon. Dr. Nace was retired from L-3 Communications where he was a Specialist Engineer and concomitantly a Math Professor at Baker College where he taught until the end of August this year. He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, the New York Academy of Sciences and the American Mathematical Society. When he was young, he played soccer and participated in skiing competitions where he won a number of prizes. He enjoyed fishing and loved to travel. Later on in life, he became involved in extensive research, which he truly loved, and wrote and published many articles. He will be forever missed by his loving wife, Manuela, by all his family and friends from Muskegon, from New York City, from Romania and from all over the world, and last but not least, by his students at Baker College who greatly appreciated and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother. SERVICES will be held at 1:00PM Thursday at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Catalin Mot presiding. VISITATION will be from 5-8PM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100. BURIAL will take place in Norton Cemetery on Airport Road.
