"Duckie" Doris Jean Cooper's Obituary
“Duckie” Doris Jean Cooper, age 75, passed away Thursday evening, February 24, 2011. She was born September 11, 1935 in Muskegon to Arthur and Fannie (Wierda) Hooker and had been a life resident of the area. Mrs. Cooper was a long-time member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church. She was active in the North Muskegon elections and had also served as Chairperson for many years. Duckie enjoyed sewing, doing crafts, and traveling. On June 11, 1955, she married Jack C. Cooper in Muskegon and he survives her along with 3 children, Debra (Dave Atchison) Cooper of North Muskegon, Kathy Cooper Leiter of North Muskegon, Scott (Jill) Cooper of Ann Arbor, MI; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; sister, Joyce (Guy) Kennedy of Clearwater, FL; and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jack Hooker. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Monday at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church with Rev. Dr. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. Burial will be in Laketon Twp. Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-5 PM Sunday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Mercy VNS Hospice or Laketon Bethel Reformed Church.
