Dustin Jay Tjapkes' Obituary
Dustin Jay Tjapkes, age 40, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019 as the result of a car accident in Ottawa County. He was born May 13, 1979 in Muskegon to John P. and Sharon (Briske) Tjapkes and lived all his life in the area. Dustin was proud to be a 3rd generation painter and worked for his father and grandfather before working the past 5 years at Elzinga & Volkers Construction. On October 6, 2012, he married Sheila M. Rumpz in North Muskegon. Dustin was a hard worker and took great pride in job as a painter. He was a talented bowler and had collected 14 bowling balls. Dustin loved spending time with his family, especially camping trips with his wife and children. He was a great husband, father and son and will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Sheila M. Tjapkes; 4 children, Tyler, Jack, Oliver and Sophia Tjapkes; his mother, Sharon Auw; his in-laws, Doug and Lois Rumpz; brother, Cole Tjapkes and his kids, Emma and Ryan; grandfather, Howard Briske; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, John Tjapkes. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 18, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Pastor Dave Celeskey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior, 10-11 AM Thursday. Memorial Contributions in lieu of flowers may be directed to Sheila Tjapkes for the children's education fund.
