Earl L. Baker's Obituary
Mr. Earl Leon Baker, age 67, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 9, 2014. He was born March 14, 1947 in Muskegon to Homer and Lynette “Jean” (Hanks) Baker. Earl was a 1965 graduate of Orchard View High School. After high school he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam. He was a recipient of a Purple Heart and was also a member of the VFW Post #3195. Earl worked for GTE for 10 years and had also worked part-time as a greeter for Meijer, Inc. He loved riding his Harley Davidson, going on many Spring Runs, and spending time down at Hot Rod Harley Davidson with all of his friends. Earl was also an avid hunter, enjoyed splitting wood, and attending classic car shows with his Chevy Nova. SURVIVORS include 2 daughters: Dawn (Kurt) Eschman, Kimberly (Paul) Whipple; 3 grandchildren: Shane Meinders, Isabelle and Alec Eschman; his mother, Lynette “Jean” Baker; 2 sisters: Theresa Hicks, and Rannette Baker; and nephew, Gary (Becky) Hilgeman. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Baker and brother-in-law, Joe Hicks. SERVICES for Earl will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 12, 2014 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210, with Pastor Tim Cross officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM this evening (Thursday) and one hour prior to the service Friday morning. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
