Earl E. Chapel's Obituary
Mr. Earl E. Chapel, age 94, went to be with his Lord Saturday, April 14, 2012. He was born July 20, 1917 in Cadillac, MI to Edgar and Ada Densen-Chapel, and resided in the Muskegon area since 1925. Mr. Chapel worked at Continental Motors for 42 years, before retiring in 1981. He was a beloved and treasured member of Calvary Baptist Church of Muskegon, now Calvary Church of Fruitport. Mr. Chapel was well known for his voice both as an announcer at WKBZ and as a gifted soloist throughout the Muskegon area, where his songs graced the weddings and funerals of families for three generations. Mr. Chapel was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, the former Christine Starks, in 1988, daughter Judith Ann VanDeursen, and brother Harvey Chapel. His survivors include 4 children, Jack (Mary) Chapel of Plant City, FL, Joe (Martha) Chapel of Rockford, MI, Janet (Jim) Melcher of Allendale, MI and Joyce (Dave) Beekman of Twin Lake; 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be 11AM Saturday, April 21, 2012 at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor Bill Rudd officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11AM. Burial will take place Monday in Mona View Cemetery.
