Mr. Earl L. Pennington's Obituary
Mr. Earl L. Pennington, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday morning, November 2, 2017. He was born March 26, 1932 to Lacy K. and Mary (Waters) Pennington in Orlando, FL, and moved to the Muskegon area in 1934. He owned and operated Pennington Brothers for 45 years before retiring in 1995, and was a longtime member of the Muskegon Contractor’s Association. Earl always had projects to finish and more in the making. He loved his work with industrial sand blasting, working with equipment, and driving big trucks. He was a member of Cedar Creek Alliance Chapel, enjoyed camping and singing in the Shoreline Chorus Barber Shop Quartet. He loved his family, his life and watching others enjoy life. On April 7, 1973 Earl married Mary L. (Young) Ruud, and she preceded him in death on May 8, 2016. Survivors include 5 children, Elizabeth (Ken) Pennington-Smith, Nancy Pennington, Catherine Rosema, Kemmera Rosema, David Pennington; 3 step-children, Pamela (Doug) Krause, Richard (Teresa) Ruud, Randall (Darlene “Dee”) Ruud; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Phillip E. Pennington; and 1 sister, Mary Ann Schiedel. Mr. Pennington was also preceded in death by one son, John Earl Pennington; and one brother, John W. Pennington. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, November 7, at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, with Pastor Randy Blanchette officiating. Visitation with Earl’s family will be from 6-8:00 PM Monday, November 6, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. You may visit the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com.
