Earl "Clarence" Carlson's Obituary
Mr. Earl “Clarence” Carlson, age 85, passed away Friday, October 10, 2008. He was born November 19, 1922 in Dalton, MI to Carl and Sena (Bard) Carlson and had been a life resident of the area. Mr. Carlson served his country in the Army during WWII. He worked for Geerpres, Inc., where he retired in 1991. Mr. Carlson was a member of Evanston Ave. Baptist Church and a former member of Dalton Baptist Church. On December 14, 1946 he married the former Margaret E. Strand in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on December 18, 2004. SURVIVORS include 2 sons, Ronald (Sarah) Carlson, Robert (Wendy) Carlson both of North Muskegon; 2 grandchildren, James Carlson of Muskegon, Sarah (Jon) Bishop of Grand Rapids; 3 great-grandchildren, Kimberlyn Carlson, Alexander Bishop, Kiera Bishop; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, Carl, Oscar, David, and Ruben “Palmer”. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Evanston Ave. Baptist Church with Rev. Allan J. Engstrom officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210. MEMORIALS to VNS-Hospice or the Evanston Ave. Baptist Church Memorial Fund will be appreciated.
