Earl R. Millis, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Earl R. Millis, Jr., age 81, passed away Monday morning, October 5, 2009. He was born October 6, 1927 in Muskegon to Earl R. and Catherine (Lods) Millis, Sr. Mr. Millis was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the VFW Post #3195. He spent 29 years as a heat treater for the Michigan Spring Company, during which time he also operated E & E Shoe Repair with his father. In later years, he worked as a shoe repairman for Heights Shoe Repair before retiring. Mr. Millis also enjoyed bowling, hunting, and fishing. On November 26, 1955 he married the former Elizabeth “Betty” Monroe in Muskegon and she survives him along with 2 sons, Robert L. Millis of Muskegon, Raymond G. (Barbara) Millis of Traverse City; 3 daughters, Georgia (Ron) Brandenburg, Barbara Featherstone, Connie Larson all of Muskegon; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Amherst (Shirley) Millis of North Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Loretta Bartz. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Pastor Brian Kyle officiating. Burial will be Hart Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
