Mrs. Edith M. Branyan's Obituary
Mrs. Edith M. Branyan, age 83, passed away Sunday morning, March 17, 2013 in Muskegon. She was born November 3, 1929 to Thomas and Gladys (Johnson) Carey in Muskegon, and was a life resident. She had worked as a secretary for the Federal Aviation Agency for 25 years before retiring, and was a member of Crestwood United Methodist Church. Edith volunteered at the American Red Cross and DHS, enjoyed crocheting baby blankets and sweaters which she would donate to Love, Inc., the Salvation Army, and Every Woman’s Place. On July 1, 1976 she married Gordon A. Branyan, and he preceded her in death on January 10, 1993. SURVIVORS include five children, Patti (Noel) Cady of Muskegon, Michael (Holly) Priest of Whitehall, Thomas (Dianne) Priest, Jeri Gannon, Mary (Thomas Houseman) Sherwood, all of Muskegon; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; three step-children; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Marlon Carey; one sister, Ardeth Carey Conlin; one granddaughter, Carey Lyn Smith; and one step-daughter. THE FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 20, at Crestwood United Methodist Church, with Rev. Steve Weinberger officiating, and burial taking place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service.
