Edna S. McArthur, 85, of Grand Haven, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014. She was born in Detroit to Andrew and Agnes Scott, and grew up in Marine City, Michigan. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Western M Read Obituary
When I ran Riverside Nursing Centre, Dr. MacArthur was one of my medical directors and I would go to the office for papers to be signed at times and Edna and Dorothy would always take care of my needs as fast as possible because they said that they knew I was busy. Later years, they would smile and talk with me at Meijer's, and treated me like an old friend. May God bless all of you at this time and thanks for being so kind.
Edna and Pete McArthur were a wonderful couple! They were so supportive of my mom, Vera, and my dad, Ed. Edna and her sister, Dorothy, who worked in Dr.'s office, were always so friendly, It was always nice visiting with them when I would meet them shopping together or working at the office. My condolences to the family for their loss.
Edna was one of a kind. She always had the most interesting stories to tell - whether it be about family or other experiences. It was always great fun going to her home to visit with her. We would exchange books back and forth and then comment on what we had read at our next visit. When we couldn't visit, we chatted on the phone and promised to write about our adventures in a book we would each write one day. I will miss Edna greatly...and the laughter and the stories. She was a great person.

Edna was a very faithful and effective mentor in the HOSTS (Help One Student to Succeed) program at both Central and Mary A. White Schools for many years. She was patient and kind to her kindergarten and second grade struggling readers. I enjoyed Edna's sense of humor and ability to take things in stride. She was modest about her great contribution to the lives of our youngest learners. She will be missed in our community. Peace to her friends and family.

I loved talking with Edna.She was a very special person.When we were raising our family I talked with her often. We have many good memories. They were a caring couple. I am so saddened to learn of Mrs McArthur's passing. As you all know Jamie and I were lifelong best friends, and I share such warm memories of the McArthur Family as I was always so welcomed that I felt the McArthur's my second family. One can not help when visiting the McArthur's and having dinner with them, their warmth and care just touched your soul. I am keeping you all in my prayers, my heart & my soul. Mrs. McArthur was a wonderful lady and she will be missed. I will always remember her little "office" at the doctor's office. She was always able to give good advice along with the medical care Dr. Pete gave. Our deepest sympathy to the family.
