Edna Marie Schwing's Obituary
Mrs. Edna Marie (McDowell) Schwing, age 74, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Brookhaven Medical Care Facility. She was born March 5, 1935 in Napanee, Indiana to Gail D. and Irene M. (Kelley) McDowell and lived in the Muskegon area since the age of 2. She married Joseph August Schwing in June of 1962, and he preceded her in death. She had worked as a clerk for J.C. Penney for over 10 years. Edna attended St. Thomas the Apostle and Sacred Heart Catholic Churches. She enjoyed playing Bingo and singing karaoke. SURVIVORS include 2 children, Ricky (Toni) Pierce of Nunica, Peggy J. (Gary) Thomas of Casper, WY; 3 grandchildren, Leah Grodstein of Muskegon and Tory (Kimberly) Grodstein of Maryland, Richard (Elizabeth) Pierce of Muskegon; 3 great-grandsons, Keaton McDonald, Ayden Mendoza, Zachary Pierce; 3 brothers, Dennis (Phyllis) McDowell of Muskegon, Paul McDowell of Florida, Ronald (Sally) McDowell of Grand Haven; 4 sisters, Doris (Arthur) Dean of Ocala, Florida, Gloria (Joseph) Cote of Tallahassee, Florida, Mary (Thomas) Tomaras of Muskegon and Patricia (George) LaRose of Muskegon; many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Joseph, she was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Denice Pierce in 1990; and 1 son, James Pierce in 1991; and her parents. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Brown as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with Edna’s family will be one hour prior to Mass, 10-11 AM Wednesday at the church.
