Edward L. Beebe, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Edward L. Beebe, Jr., age 86, of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 16, 1926 in Grand Haven to Edward, Sr. and Emma (Hunt) Beebe.
Ed was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post 28. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a life member of NRA and was the oldest member of Terra Verde Golf Course. He loved to golf and especially looked forward to his annual golf trip with friends, after the age of 75 he had 3 holes in one. Ed enjoyed being outside searching for golf balls, he was an avid hunter and loved to draw. He was also an accomplished welder.
On August 28, 1948 he married the former Elizabeth Marie Donahue in Spring Lake and she preceded him in death on June 11, 1996. He is survived by 4 children: Ginny (Scott) Pitts of Spring Lake, Teresa (Mark) Brand of Three Rivers, Lisa (Johnny Valentine) Beebe of Panama City, FL; and Edward T. Beebe of Grand Haven; 7 grandchildren: Jimmy, Jennifer, Jamie, Sarah, Katie, Kyle and Brittany; 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 sister, Mary Ann (Richard) Stillson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, John Howard Beebe; daughter, Joni Marie Smith; grandson, Nicholas Garwood; sister, Betty Voltz; and brother, John H. Beebe.
Memorial Service for Ed will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake with Rev. Father Daniel DePew officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery.
