Edward S. Chvala's Obituary
Edward S. Chvala, age 80, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. He was born July 23, 1940 in Muskegon to Steve and Diana (Hoffman) Chvala and was a lifelong resident. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. Ed worked 32 years as a journeyman pipe fitter and instrument tech for the S.D. Warren Papermill and retired in 2000. In August of 2000, he married Laura May Crabtree in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on October 30, 2020. Ed was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and researching investment properties. Survivors include 3 sons, Steve (Belinda) Chvala, Neil (Kathryn) Chvala, Rick (Jodi) Chvala; 3 grandchildren, Amber Mobray, Ericka Byler, Edward Chvala; 3 great-grandchildren, Jayden, Alyahah, Haleigh; 1 brother, Mike (Pam) Chvala; 1 sister, Sally (David) Sims; and very close longtime family friends, Shari Rohn, Michelle Chvala, and Charles Draper. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura May Chvala; his parents; 1 brother, Pat Chvala; and 2 sisters, Kathryn VanHemert and Kay Vlcek. Due to state restrictions concerning COVID-19, face coverings will be required and a maximum of 25 persons will be allowed inside the funeral home at a time for a Public Visitation from 4-7 PM Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442. Please be mindful of your time spent with the family as others may be waiting outside the funeral home to see them. A Private Memorial Service will be held. Committal Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Mona View Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Norman P. Droski officiating.
