Edward H. "Ed" Davis' Obituary
Edward H. “Ed” Davis, age 96, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020. He was born on December 19, 1923 to John and Eva (Baughman) Davis in Crystal Valley, MI and was a native to Michigan. He attended high school in North Muskegon before he enlisted in the US Marine Corps in January 1942. He served in the Pacific Theater and was discharged in January 1946. On October 4, 1947 he married the love of his life Virginia Tapek in Muskegon, MI at St. Michaels Catholic Church. Together they cherished 72 years of marriage full of love and laughter. Ginny preceded him in death on April 26, 2020. Edward worked for Bennett Pump and later, in 1951 started at Continental Motors. Ed was a Field Service Engineer for Continental where the M60 Battle tank was built, where he retired after 34 years. He traveled to many parts of the world on service problems and retrofit programs. Ginny accompanied him on many of those trips. Ed was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, of which he did a lot of. He was also a proud veteran, who enjoyed taking part marching in the Memorial Day and North side parades. He was also a charter and a life member at the VFW Post #8846 and served in the honor guard for his falling comrades. Above all things, he truly loved his family and the gatherings they had during the summer. His storying telling and easy-going personality will truly be missed by many. He is survived by his 2 sons, Martin (Linda) Davis and Thomas Davis; 2 grandchildren, Sean (Kim) Davis and Jeremy Davis; and 2 great-grandchildren, Andrew Davis, and Summer Davis. He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Virginia Davis; and brother, Millard “Phil” Davis. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Don Rea VFW Post #8846, 1061 Witham Rd., Muskegon, MI 49445.
