Edward Klein's Obituary
Edward Klein, age 98, of Grand Haven passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at home in Grand Haven. He was born March 19, 1920, in Chicago, IL to Paul and Dora (Kresukane) Chaplinskis, and married Dorothy Kovarik on June 5, 1954, in Chicago.
Ed served his country in the Army Air Corp. during WWII. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post # 28, Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity at Northwestern University where he graduated from with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Ed worked at Bastian Blessing in the Marketing and Sales Department. He delivered Meals on Wheels, tutored English, and enjoyed bowling and golf.
He was a cherished husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Klein of Grand Haven; daughter, Donna (Terry) Klein Dickinson of Plymouth, MN; two grandchildren, Katie and Jack Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Johnson.
The funeral for Ed will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services – The VanZantwick Chapel with Rev. Kurt Wenzelburger officiating. Military rites will be accorded him by the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post # 28 Honor Guard. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Ottawa Community are appreciated.
