Years and years ago, Ed began writing “#1 Bro” as part of his signature in cards to me, after I was signing mine to him “#1 Sis.” (Ha! Ha! I am his only sister. So, of course, his #1 Sis!) Growing up close in age, Ed and I shared a special bond; spending all our years in school just a year apart and then when I followed him to Albion College. Three years at college together was special; especially since I could easily attend every home football game and proudly cheer him on, with Mom and Dad in the stands as well. A treasure and an opportunity most siblings don’t always get. We were often seen eating meals together in the dining halls . . . . . definitely during our standing Sunday evening dinners. Some people thought we were married because we had the same last name. Okay for Ed, who had his high school sweetheart back at home, but made it kind of hard for me to get many dates! ;-) As we began our adult lives after college, Ed and I remained very close. He never missed sending his own “Sister” birthday cards and Christmas cards to me every year. Even though I always won (ha! ha!), he would still try to compete against me each year in our “Best Wrapped Christmas Present” contest that only he and I competed in. Ed, I will be sure to have the absolutely, best-ever, wrapped Christmas present with your name on it this year, in loving memory of you! I will dearly miss you and will always still hold you close in my heart until I can see you again, "#1 Bro”!! Be sure to have your pile of restaurant coupons ready for dinner together again!
Love you so much,
Debbie
