Edward Robert Olshaske's Obituary
Edward Robert Olshaske, age 86, passed away peacefully Monday, December 11th 2023 at his home. He was born January 24th, 1937 in Muskegon, MI to Edward and Helen (Kruszka). Edward married Josephine Anne Mines at St. Francis Catholic Church on June 14th, 1986 in Norton Shores. They are active members of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Muskegon. Edward is survived by his loving wife Josie Olshaske; 3 children, Matthew (Jessie), Mari (Ryan) Hilton, and David (Juliet) Olshaske; 7 dedicated grandchildren, Matilda, Reagan, Armand, Maya, Lily, Liam, and Edward; 1 great grandchild, Damien; 3 sisters, Rose Olshaske, Marge Schales, Pat Shafer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son, Mark Dulin.
Edward was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He took great joy from spending time with the people he loved and feeding everyone that entered his home. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and spent many hours making friends on the piers of West Michigan and trekking through his woods. He took great pride in his flower and vegetable gardens and spent many hours tending to them. Ed was a generous man sharing his catch from lake and land as well as the harvest from his gardens with family, friends, and anyone in need. He regularly took requests from family members about what to grow and catch. Ed’s Perch Dinners were a regular family tradition and always a welcome celebration. He also loved and enjoyed all of God’s animals especially his beagles which he spoiled as much as his own grandchildren.
Prior to his retirement he worked in Research and Development at the Brunswick Corporation and holds multiple patents for products he helped create.
Ed was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve.
Edward was a man of faith, a man of God, and a family man. The love he bestowed on his family will be greatly missed, but the lessons he taught and the stories he told will continue with his family, friends, and their memories of him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2023 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (1716 Sixth Street, Muskegon, MI 49442) with Fr. Steve Geerling presiding.
