Edward Lawrence Omness' Obituary
Mr. Edward Lawrence Omness, age 86, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014 at a local hospital. He was born May 20, 1928 in Muskegon to the late Julius C. and Mary L. (Wehrley) Omness. Ed served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 39 years. Ed was an avid rock hound and loved to travel collecting many geological specimens along the way. He married the former Suzanne V. Cardinal in Muskegon on June 26, 1954. She survives him along with his granddaughters, Jenni Omness of Detroit, MI and Katie Omness of Big Rapids, MI. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph E. Omness on March 7, 2012. There will be a private family service at a later date. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
