Edward L. "Ed" Schiller's Obituary
Edward L. “Ed” Schiller, age 70, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 20, 1953, to Joseph and Philomene (LaPres) Schiller in Muskegon, MI which has always been home to Ed. He graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School class of 1971. He was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ed dedicated several years to Nowak Machine Products where he worked as a machinist before retiring in 2016. He enjoyed the simple things in life such as watching football with an ice-cold beer or trying his luck at Keno. Ed was a family man who cherished and loved them unconditionally. He will be remembered for being the best uncle and spending time with his many nieces and nephews feeding the ducks on Sunday’s. Ed was an amazing brother and dear friend to many. His great sense of humor and witty banter will be missed by the many who knew and loved him. He is survived by his eight siblings, Lumina (Pat) Boyer, Therese (Steve) Gondek, Mary Jo (Steve) Nowak, Joe (Deb) Schiller, Jeanne Smedley, Christine (George Scougale) Schiller, Stephen (Diane Blodgett) Schiller and Louise (Bill) Forton; several nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Jan Schiller; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Schiller; and brother-in-law, David Smedley. A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held from 2-5:00PM on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at DJ’s Pub & Grill, 2064 Henry St., Muskegon, MI 49441. He will be laid to rest with his parents at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
