Edward Sechen's Obituary
Edward Sechen passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday May 16, 2013. Ed was born September 10, 1927 in South Range, MI, to Nicholas and Frances Sechen. Ed served with the United States Merchant Marines during World War II, later serving his country in the ARMY. He worked for Johnson Products/Sealed Power. Ed played hockey into his 50’s and was a passionate golfer, shuffle board player as well as a loyal Tigers, Red Wings and Muskegon Hockey fan. He imparted his love of sport to his children and grandchildren. Ed was also a devoted coin collector. Ed and Shirley have been long time member of St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church, and received the Bishop’s Service Cross for service to the Church. Survivors include his wife of 63 years Shirley; 2 sons Larry (Debra) Sechen, and Gary (Wynn Miller) Sechen; 1 daughter Nancy (Forrest) Hainline; and 3 grandchildren, Charles and Grant Sechen, and Leo Hainline. He was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Sechen; his parents; and 2 brothers Joe and Bernard Sechen. Services will be held on Saturday May 18th at 11am St. Gregory Episcopal Church, with Rev. Chris Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
