Mr. Edward H. Smith's Obituary
Mr. Edward H. Smith, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 31, 2018 at his home. He was born on November 8, 1942 to Edward and Blanche (Allen) Smith at Randolph Airforce Base in Texas. He worked as a spring maker for American Coil Spring for 45 years before retiring in 2006. Ed married the former Peggy Homer on October 15, 1966 in Muskegon and she survives him. Ed loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing with his sister, and camping at Ruby Creek. He enjoyed riding on his quad, or ‘dooder,’ as he always called it, and had strict instructions to ‘keep hands off’ his 1975 Scottsdale Chevy. Tasha, the German Shepherd, could usually be seen riding around with Ed while she was alive. He also enjoyed getting together with his former co-workers for their Monthly Retirement Breakfast at Whitlows. Ed will be missed by his wife of 51 years, Peggy; daughters, Shelly (Cliff) Nelson, Sherry Leak and Sabrina Smith; grandchildren, Torie Gangwer, Mike Gangwer, Deziree Leak, Mialah Leak, and Callee Leak; sister, Jacqueline Smith; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lee and Sally Homer. He was preceded in death by his parents and special friend, Dennis Witherspoon. Per Ed’s wishes, no services will be held. Arrangements by The Sytsema Chapel, 737 E. Apple Ave., 231-726-5210.
