Mr. Edward Switzer, age 85, of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019. He was born June 20, 1934 in Toronto, Canada to Walter and Madeline (Schwartz) Schweitzer. On August 19, 1961 he married Susan Schepers in Grand H Read Obituary
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of my long time friend. Ed lived in Norwalk, Ct and played hockey for me. He was an outstanding semi-pro hockey player on my team, the Norwalk and Bridgeport Home Oilers, one of the top teams in the Nation. Ed had a large following as one of our top scorers. Our prayers are with Switzer family. I enjoyed having him as my math teacher at least three different times while attending Spring Lake High School. I loved being in his class and our mutual excitement when he would check through my geometry proofs. I, too, have gone on to a career in engineering and still have that joy of math. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
Ed was a true Wolverine fan all his life and a dear friend since his playing days at Michigan. He was so proud to have scored a hat 🎩 trick in the 1956 NCAA Championship game won by Michigan. He and Sue joined us for tailgating at Michigan football games for many years. We also had many dinners at Metzger’s German restaurant his favorite in Ann Arbor. One of my favorite teachers and a fellow Wolverine. I have such good memories of his math classes. He did more than just teach, but helped inspire me to take up engineering, and more importantly to enjoy learning. Mr. Switzer will be missed by many. Sending heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
My sympathies are with the Switzer family. Mr. Switzer was a great teacher and a much needed friend when he visited a 4th class freshman at the Air Force Academy while referring a hockey game. I will forever be thankful for that memory and kindness. Thad Knue and family.
Please accept our sincere sympathy. Ed was a great person and I enjoyed working with him as teacher and for him when he was Principal.
