Mr. Edward Raymond Whelan III's Obituary
Mr. Edward Raymond Whelan III, age 70, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013. He was born in Bay Shore, NY on March 27, 1942 to Edward and Jo (Walsten) Whelan Jr. He lived in the Muskegon area the past 46 years. Ed was a deputy for the Muskegon County Sherriff Department for 25 years, retiring in 2000. He also worked for the Egelston Township Police Department. Ed was a member of the Egelston Township Fire Department for 20 years and Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and working in his yard. Ed is SURVIVED by his wife, Sandie; children, Kelly Whelan, Kimberly (Duane) Dailey, Edward (Shannon) Whelan IV, Kristi (Tom) Calhoun, Karen (Erie) Toney, Karla Tjapkes, Kevin (Heather) Houseman, Betty Jo Whelan, Michelle (Don) Krisatis, Erin Reznor, Jodi (Duane) Witham; 32 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, David M. Whelan Sr.; step-mother, Katherine Whelan; and his Harley Davidson. He was preceded by his parents; and wife, Barbara Ann Whelan. The Funeral service is 11 AM Thursday, March 21, 2013 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100 with Rev. Gerald Hagans officiating. The VISITATION will be 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Lee Chapel. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to Harbor Hospice.
