Edward C. Dornbos' Obituary
Mr. Edward C. Dornbos, age 81, passed away early Thursday, May 8, 2008, at his residence. Born July 18, 1926 in Muskegon to Bernard and Maude (Sisco) Dornbos, he had been a life resident of Muskegon. Edward married Anna Kooiman on May 18, 1946 in Racine, WI. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, and owned and operated Kooiman’s Grocery Store in Muskegon Hts. for 30 years. Ed was a member of Christ Community Church of Spring Lake and had served for 18 years as a Bible Study teacher at Hartford Terrace Apartments. Survivors include his wife, Anna; children: Nancy (Daniel) Krueger of Holland, Sandra (John) VanDyken of Jenison, Judith (Stanley) Sikkenga of Muskegon, Peggy (David) Poynter of Warren, George (JoAnn) Dornbos and Sally (Douglas) Scott ,both of Muskegon; 19 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 1 brother: John (Lois) Dornbos of Muskegon ; 2 sisters-in-law, Ruthetta Dornbos of Midland and Marty Dornbos of Colorado. Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Sue Marie; his grand daughter, Misty D’Ann; 2 brothers, Paul and David, and his parents. with Rev. Robert Kleinheksel and Rev. Ian Lawton co- officiating. Military Honors will be under the auspices of the VFW, Muskegon County Council. INTERMENT in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with the family will be Friday from 6-8 PM and 1 hour prior to the service (3-4PM) at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNS Hospice or Christ Community Church.
