Edward E. Gilmore's Obituary
Mr. Edward E. Gilmore, age 85, passed away Monday morning, September 26, 2005, at the home of his son, David. He was born July 15, 1920 to Earl S. and Myrtle (Cook) Gilmore in Muskegon and had been a life resident of the area. On December 22, 1944 he married the former Mary Weathers and she preceded him in death on June 4, 1999. He was also preceded in death by 1 son, Ralph Gilmore. Ed was a member of Central United Methodist Church. In September 1982, he retired from Teledyne Continental Motors as a draftsman. Mr. Gilmore was a Scout Master who earned the “Silver Beaver Award” for serving The Boy Scouts from 1950-1986. He also served as an election precinct supervisor for the County Clerk, President of the West Shore Camera Club; and volunteered for the Frauenthal Center for Performing Arts, McGraft Park Seniors, and Hackley Hospital. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Kenneth Gilmore of Dallas TX, Timothy Gilmore of Grand Rapids, Norman (Karen) Gilmore of Shelby Twp, MI; and David (Pamela) Gilmore of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. SERVICES will be 3:00 PM Thursday at the The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565
with Pastor Brian Kyle officiating. VISITATION with Mr. Gilmore’s family will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the family in Mr. Edward E. Gilmore’s name. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery.
