Edward R. Lemke's Obituary
Mr. Edward R. Lemke, age 70, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010 in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon on November 19, 1939 to Edward and Frances (Boltz) Lemke, Sr. and was a life resident of the area. Mr. Lemke was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was retired from Sealed Power where he had been employed as a research technician for 20 years. He was a member of the Don Rea VFW Post #8846 and past member of the Muskegon Country Steelheaders Association and the Muskegon Area Eagles. Ed was a caring and compassionate man with a big heart. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need of help and would rarely pass a stranded motorist on the side of the road. Ed enjoyed billiards and loved to fish. On December 7, 1957, he married the former Alyce Mae Hasseldahl and she preceded him in death on September 23, 2009. He is survived by 4 children, Robert (Anne) Lemke, Tammy (Larry) Finch, Kraig Lemke and Kurt (Tracy) Lemke; 7 grandchildren, Andrea, April, Larry, Ben, Adam, Krystal, Tess and 1 brother, Alan (Pat) Lemke. In addition to his wife, Alyce, of 51 years, Ed was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Bobbi and Dave Lemke. A CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday at the Muskegon Heights Eagles (465 West Broadway Avenue) with a short service at 1:30 p.m. MEMORIALS in Ed’s name may be made to www.muskegonlakenaturepreserve.org.
