Edwin A. "Ed" Hodges Jr.'s Obituary
Edwin A. “Ed” Hodges, Jr., age 62, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 3, 2019. He was born April 14, 1956 in Ludington, MI to Edwin A. and Carole A. (Larsen) Hodges, Sr. and lived in the Muskegon area most of his life. On March 31, 1979, he married Carol A. Furst at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and she survives him. Ed worked 20 years as a short order cook at Mr. Fables, Roosevelt Roost, and Big Boy Restaurants. He later worked 15 years as a warehouse supervisor for Centron Data Service and retired in 2015. Ed was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where he had been active in the Men’s Group. He was also a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 706 and the Crusader Chain Gang. Ed volunteered his time for the Polish Fest, the Irish Music Fest and Pound Buddies. He was an avid sports fan of all Detroit teams. SURVIVORS include his wife, Carol A. Hodges, Jr. of Muskegon; 2 children, Jeremy (Shannon) Hodges of Chelsea, MI; Nikki (fiance, Justin Byrnes) Hodges of Muskegon; 6 grandchildren, Dylan, Drew, Emma, Katelyn, Lauren, Ella Jo; his mother, Carole “GG” Hodges, Sr; 2 brothers, Jim Hodges, Dean (Lisa) Hodges; 1 sister, Bonnie Hodges-Chaffee; 3 brothers-in-law, David (Debbie) Furst, Daniel (Kathleen) Furst, Michael (Maureen) Furst; 1 sister-in-law, Edna (Chuck) Chick; several nieces and nephews; and his special dogs, Zoey, Kira, Sasha, and Owen. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin A. Hodges, Sr. and his uncle and aunt, Curly and Mary Hodges. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, January 12, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken St.) with the Revs. Fr. Charlie Hall and Fr. Phil Sliwinski presiding. VISITATION will be held 4-7 PM Friday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100 where the Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to Mass, 10-11 AM Saturday at the church. INTERMENT will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
