Edwin Jay Yonker's Obituary
Edwin Jay Yonker, born January 29, 1950, left his earthly home to be reunited with his heavenly family. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
Ed was an active sportsman. He owned Yonker Custom Arrows in Grand Haven for many years. He made arrows and excelled in archery. Ed loved the outdoors, hunting, camping, his dogs and sitting by a campfire sharing stories with some good friends.
Ed was a graduate of Grand Haven High School and in his early years, gymnastics was his sport, specializing on the rings and winning state honors. With his competitive nature, he later joined many leagues: golf, softball, bowling, and most recently a pool league with his team from Manistee. He was a soft-spoken, easy-going, kind man. No matter what life threw at him, he would say, “It will be ok again, it always is”.
He will be missed, but lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kimberly Yonker, (Jamerson Glover); son-in-law, Dave Janicki; grandsons, Jackson and Theodore; sister, Nancy Fett, (Richard); sister-in-law, Joyce Yonker. Nieces, nephews and precious friends will forever keep his memory alive.
Waiting to welcome him at heaven’s doors are his wife, Carol Yonker; daughter, Christine Janicki and grandson, Xavier Janicki; parents, Clyde, and Janet Yonker and brother, Dann Yonker.
A memorial service will be held 3:30 Friday, September 13, 2024, at The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge Street, Spring Lake, MI 49456. Memorial contributions in memory of Ed may be given to the American Cancer Society. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at http://www.sytsemafh.com.
