Edwin A. "Ed" Hodges, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Edwin A. “Ed” Hodges, Sr., age 80, passed away Thursday evening, March 10, 2011. He was born April 13, 1930 in Elbridge Twp., MI to James and Edna (Fuller) Hodges. Mr. Hodges was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving 9 years, and spent 5 of those years stationed in Germany. He worked for Morrison Industrial and Equipment Company for 31 years before retiring in 1990. Mr. Hodges was a life-member of the VFW Post #446, former member of the Heights Eagles, and had attended Edgewood Lutheran Church. He loved working on cars and working in his yard. On December 18, 1954 he married the former Carole Anne Larsen in Ludington, MI. SURVIVORS include his wife, Carole (whom he loved more than words could express); 4 children, Bonita “Bonnie” Chaffee of Nunica, Edwin A. “Ed” (Carol) Hodges, Jr. of Muskegon, James “Jim” Hodges of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Dean (Lisa) Hodges of Grand Haven; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard “Curly” (Mary) Hodges of Raleigh, NC; sister, Eleanor Kinney of Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alta Phillips; and a brother, Carroll “Steve” Hodges. The family would like to thank the staff at Brookhaven Medical Care Facility for the special care given these past couple of weeks. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Monday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 with Rev. Jerry Worrel officiating. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday.
