Edwin Alvie McClary's Obituary
Mr. Edwin McClary, age 87, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Robbinswood Assisted Living in Grand Haven. He was born July 29, 1922 in Fremont, MI to Alvie and Easter (Wilson) McClary. He resided in the Muskegon area for over 40 years until moving to Ferrysburg in 1968. Ed was employed as a Drafting Supervisor for Cooper Tools (formerly Gardner Denver) in Grand Haven until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed fishing, boating and tending to his yard. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Spring Lake. Ed married the former Irene B. Peplinski in Cedar, MI on June 29, 1946. She survives him, along with their children, Kevin (Mary Kay) McClary of Ft. Myers, FL, Marcia (Terry) VanSlyke of Spring Lake, MI and Patricia (Patrick) Kinney of Columbus, IN; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Donald L. McClary; 1 sister, Mary Ellen (John) Grambau. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth. The MASS of CHRISTIAN BURIAL was held Friday, May 14, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 406 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake, MI with Fr. Daniel R. DePew officiating. VISITATION was held, Thursday, May 13, 2010, 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:45 p.m. at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Muskegon.
