My dad Max Aley (W8CPD now 96 years old) knew Eddie well. Ed brought his family over to dad's house in Muskegon's Pinchtown many years ago when the kids were little. My mom Alvena (died in 2001) was a great dinner host. At Brookhaven, some years ago after just receiving my Ham license N8RYP, I, Max's daughter, Denice, talked with Eddie about his Polish past. Ed's parents came from Poland & he said he was best friends with John Gebolys (recently deceased) as his parents came from Poland, also. The Polish all lived in a certain area of Muskegon. John was married to my mom's sister's daughter Janet Montambo (also called "Nan"). Nan's parents were Earl and Viola Montambo from the UP. Eddie's wife remembers my dad & his wife's family. This past summer I was able to bring my dad up to see Eddie & help them talk together (and also see Eddie's wife). I was there several times after that, but communication was getting more difficult for Eddie. He was so happy we had came to see him, and I am sure glad we took the time & effort to go there. My dad is legally blind now & deaf & getting around is more difficult. Dad had to be pushed in a wheelchair there. He still knows the morse code, and sometimes that makes our conversations easier. Thank you for letting me express my memories. If Eddie's kids want to know more about my dad & Eddie, he is willing to talk anytime.##imported-begin##Max Aley and daughter Denice Meyer##imported-end##
