Mr. Edwin Verne Fredlund, age 83, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in Muskegon, MI. He was born September 10, 1925 in Escanaba, MI to Lawrence and Gladys (Sleeman) Fredlund. Mr. Fredlund married the former Alice Marjorie Sprague on June 25, 1949 in Litchfield, MI. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2008. Verne was employed as an Educator and Administrator for the Hillsdale Community Schools for nearly 40 years until his retirement in 1981. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Verne was a member of First United Methodist Church and was also a member of the American Legion and served on the YMCA Board. Survivors include: 2 daughters, Marjorie A. (Ronn) Nelson of Whitehall, MI and Lorrie L. Wilken of Grand Rapids, MI; 1 son, Eric V. (Martha) Fredlund of Warren, MI; 9 grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, Heather, Ian, Emilie, Allison, Jeff, Abbie and Matt; 2 great-granddaughters, Hayley Hutchins and Cora Nelson; 3 brothers , Bob (Madeleine) Fredlund of Bellevue, NE, Jim (Lockey) Fredlund of Grayling, MI and Vic (Rosie) Fredlund of Tumwater, WA. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katie Alice Fredlund. A COMBINED MEMORIAL SERVICE for both Verne and Alice will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest in Litchfield Township Cemetery. Memorial donations in Verne’s name may be given to Sanctuary at the Park, 570 Harvey St., Muskegon, MI 49442. Arrangements by
