Elaine K. Backer's Obituary
Elaine K. Backer, age 74, passed away January 15, 2020 in Muskegon. She was born on December 14, 1945 in Muskegon to Jesse and Margaret (Ferrier) Doyle and resided in the area her entire life. Elaine worked in the classroom for Muskegon Public School for 26 years, prior to retiring in 2005. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. On August 15, 1999, she married her loving husband Tom Backer, and he survives her along with her grandson, Ryan Valero; extended family, Thomas (Michelle) Backer, Tony (Erica) Backer and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley (Lee) Gomez, Rhonda (Rock) Howe, and Wanda Finkler; many nieces and nephews; and in-laws, Richard and June Backer. Elaine was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Taylor; daughter, Angela Taylor; her parents; brothers, Bruce, Denny, Terry, David Doyle, and brother-in-law, Mark Finkler. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11AM Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Fr. Douglas Braun presiding. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 AM.
