Mrs. Elaine Mary Helton's Obituary
Mrs. Elaine Mary Helton, age 74, passed away Saturday evening, September 22, 2018 at an area hospital. Elaine was born December 27, 1943 in Grand Haven to Edward and Ada (Huls) Decker. Elaine was a graduate of Western Michigan Christian High School and Muskegon Business College. She had worked as a secretary and sales person with Ar-Jer’s Clothing in Muskegon and later as a cashier at the Save-A-Lot in Baldwin. On June 19, 1964, Elaine married Ronald Clarence Helton in Grand Haven and he survives her. She has been a member of the Covenant Community United Methodist Church of Baldwin since 2002. Elaine was a wonderful homemaker for her children as they were growing up, and a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed baking, entertaining, and sharing her gift of hospitality. In addition to Ron, her husband of 54 years, Elaine is survived by her children, Ronald Paul (Kim) Helton of Muskegon, Karen Elaine Helton of Baldwin, and Curtis Edward Helton of Columbia, SC; 4 grandchildren, Cody Helton, Emma Susan Helton, Logan Patrick Helton, and Payton Marie Helton; great-grandson, Liam Cole; brother, Paul Edward (Carol) Decker of Spring Lake; sister, Lois Ann Gray of Nunica; and several nieces and nephews. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Norma Jean Cole. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Family Bible Church, 1256 W. Broadway, with Rev. Lyle Ball and Rev. Jerry DePoy officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (Noon until 1:00PM). Interment will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
