Mr. Eldon "Al" Taylor's Obituary
Mr. Eldon “Al” Burdette Taylor, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. He was born May 11, 1926 in Shelby, Michigan to Eldon and Goldie (McLouth) Taylor. Al served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War and received a Purple Heart. On July 4, 1946 he married Helen Kamhout and they enjoyed 66 years together. He was a member of the Ironworkers local 340 for 59 years. Al was also a member of VFW post 7729. He loved to play golf and was a HAM radio operator with a call sign of N8RXD. Al is SURVIVED by his wife, Helen; children, Sharon (Don) Deweerd, Ron (Tracey) Taylor, Jerry (Nanci) Taylor; son-in-law, Lee Clark; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Ellen German. He was PRECEDED in death by his parents; daughter, Maureen “Sue” Clark; brothers, Ed Taylor, Ted Taylor. The FUNERAL service will be 11 AM Saturday, May 11, 2013 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, with Rev. Gerald Hagans officiating. The VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the funeral at the Lee Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Harbor Hospice.
