Eldonna M. Carlson's Obituary
Eldonna M. Carlson, age 92, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2020. She was born on November 16, 1928 to Evar and Lila (Cooper) Carlson in Amber Twp., MI. Donna worked at Manning, Maxwell and Moore, where she met her husband, Leonard Carlson. They married August 6, 1955 and he preceded her in death on April 17, 1987. After raising her children, she went to work at JCPenney in the Hallmark Department. Donna was a mother and grandmother. There were others who called Mom or Gram ("adopted" granddaughter, Brittney). Donna had a beautiful smile. She was a hostess to many birthday dinners and holidays and was a great cook. One of Donna's passions were her floral gardens. She also assisted with Girl Scouts in her basement and served as a Sunday school teacher. Donna loved to play Skip-Bo (with her own rules) and do puzzles, which she would then glue and frame them. She loved her puzzle books. Donna was blessed to see a lot of the US with her husband and family and enjoyed going to the casinos. Donna and Len were married at St. John’s Evangelical Church where they attended services. Most recently, Donna was a member of Port City Church, McGraft Campus. Donna is survived by her children, Karen (Peter) Curcio and Shelley (Craig) Kruzel; grandchildren: Kari (Michael) Kulhman, Steven (Racheal) Kruzel, and Brandon Kruzel; great-granddaughter born in May of 2020, Grace Mae Kuhlman, and second great-granddaughter, Maeve Anita Kruzel, born in November of 2020; siblings, Ted (Linda) Carlson and Cathy (Jeff) Gilchrist; sister-in-law, Doris Cook; many nieces and nephews; and good friends, Dee Barding and Marlene Dykstra. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; grandson Dominic Curcio; parents; sister, Dorothy (Herb) Dostal; brothers, Eugene Carlson and Donald (Judy) Carlson; and mother and father-in-law, Carl and Bertha Carlson. Donna was able to stay in her home, with caring and loving people, Joan, Sherri, Brittney ("adopted" granddaughter), grandson Steven, and Ruth, Wendy and Lexi. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Private Funeral will take place with burial to follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W.
