Mr. Eldred "Bud" Averill's Obituary
Mr. Eldred “Bud” Fremont Averill, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Bud was born on November 23, 1925 to Judd and Neva (Brink) Averill. In 1947 he married the former Shirley Mae Rice. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage and raised 5 children together until her passing in 2011. Bud worked many jobs in his career, most notably as a Delivery Driver for Schaefer Bakery. He was a long-time member of Sheridan Drive Baptist Church and later in life became a member of Olivet Evangelical Free Church. He also taught Sunday school at the church. Bud enjoyed baseball and his beloved Cubs, photography, stamp collecting, reading and memorizing scripture. Bud also volunteered at many local organizations. He was a humorous, humble, faithful, devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed. Bud is survived by his children, Suzanne (Dan) Bell, Kevin (Pam) Averill, Katheryn (Robert) Nieboer, Nancy (Nathan Scott) Ware, and David (Ursula) Averill; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents; and sister, Barbara Shriver. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11AM at Olivet Evangelical Free Church, 6790 Harvey St. VISITATION will be held from 1-3pm on Sunday, April 24 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100, and also one hour prior to the start of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to The Muskegon Rescue Mission or Olivet Evangelical Free Church.
