Eleanor M. DeBoer's Obituary
Mrs. Eleanor M. DeBoer, age 91, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 in Muskegon. She was born in Muskegon on March 20, 1925 to Albin and Ellen (Otterson) Johnson. On October 1, 1942 Eleanor married Francis “Fritz” DeBoer in Muskegon. Eleanor was a lifelong member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and had worked many years as a cook at Steele Middle School prior to her retiring in 1987. She was an avid gardener and had a lifelong love of music. She enjoyed shopping, baking and reading but foremost was always the time spent with her family. SURVIVORS include her children, Robert (Sharon) DeBoer, Barbara (Kirk) Matusiewicz and Sandra (Jeffrey) Cahill; 9 grandchildren, Kim and Tim Luce, Kelly and Bob Gagnon, Kerri and Matt Roberts, Daniel Matusiewicz, Kris and Noelle Matusiewicz, Erin Matusiewicz, Benjamin Cahill, David and Megan Cahill and Rebecca Cahill; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Francis “Fritz”. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1132 W. Southern Ave. Muskegon, with Pastor Jane Mountain officiating. VISITATION will be held Wednesday from 6-8 PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100, and one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place at Norton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Harbor Hospice Foundation.
