Eleanor M. Hornik's Obituary
Mrs. Eleanor Hornik, age 92 passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014. She was born on November 26, 1921 in Muskegon to Paul and Frances (Woppel) Goodman and resided in the area her entire life. Eleanor was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tatra Hall and First Catholic Slovak Union. She worked at both George Morrell and Nelson School, before retiring. Eleanor enjoyed her Wednesday night poker games and her yearly trips to Las Vegas. She also loved golfing, and bowling and was a member of the GMWBA 600 Club. On August 23, 1952, she married Stephen J. “Pete” Hornik, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2002. SURVIVORS include her daughter, Susan Hornik of Norton Shores; sister-in-law, Shirley “Dawn” Goodman; and many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Bertha Cherney and Irene Arnold; and 2 brothers, John Goodman and Victor Goodman. A special thanks to Harbor Hospice, including her nurse, Sue; and social worker, Ann. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11 AM Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Norman Droski presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 5-8 PM Tuesday at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with the Rosary being prayed at 7:30PM. Visitation will also be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11AM at church. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
