ELEANOR R. SANKA's Obituary
Our Mom, Eleanor Rose Sanka, age 92, went home on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, in Grand Haven, MI. There waiting for her are her parents, Charley and Lola Hoyle and sister, Marie Parrish. Eleanor was born August 27, 1924 in Edwardsville, IL; and moved to this area as a young girl. She married John J. Sanka on August 24, 1946 and he preceded her in death on October 13, 1978. Prior to her retirement in 1984, Eleanor had been a punch-press operator at Grand Transformer, in Grand Haven. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church of Fruitport where she was involved with the Lady’s Bible Study, Prayer Meetings and was a 20-year volunteer in the Nursery. Eleanor enjoyed rubber-stamping, making birthday cakes and caring for her flower garden. She is survived by two children, John “Ed” (Kathy) Sanka of Fruitport and their children, Stephanie and Paul Sischo, and their sons, Isaac and Andrew of Greenville, Andrew and Jess Wilkins of Dallas, TX, Jordan and Lauren Sanka of Fruitport; her daughter, Jo (Cris) Hillman of Holland, and their children Chris and Katie Samuelson, and their children Andrew and Natalia of Holland; Caleb and Kim Hillman of Deberry, FL and Cody Hillman of Holland; 1 sister Eileen Luckett of Twin Lake and her brother Elmer (Enid) Hoyle of Ravenna. FUNERAL SERVICES for Eleanor will be held 4:30PM Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-7619) with Paul Sischo officiating. Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Fruitport. VISITATION with Eleanor’s family will be one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
