Elease Johnson's Obituary
Elease Johnson, age 92, passed away Friday morning, May 16, 2025. She was born March 17, 1933, in Camden, TN to Ira and Maudie (Bain) Douglas. On July 5, 1952, she married Berchel C. “Clayton” Johnson in Corinth, MS, and he preceded her in death on May 20, 2018, after 65 wonderful years together. Elease worked as a pharmacy clerk for Meijer, Inc. for 23 years prior to her retirement. She was a devoted member of Discovering Christ Church and had a passion for cooking, gardening, and reading. Elease and Clayton also shared a love for travel, having visited all 50 states as well as four countries abroad. SURVIVORS include her daughter, Patsy (Larry) Wagbo of Muskegon; son, Thomas C. Johnson of Twin Lake; nine grandchildren, Brian (Dianne) Wagbo, Bradley Wagbo, Brandon (Diana) Wagbo, Brent Wagbo, Laurie (Marquell) Wilkinson, Carrie (Eric) Langlois, Joshua Johnson, Kristopher (Ashley) Johnson, and Nathan Johnson; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two great-grandchildren: Sampson Johnson and Clay Johnson-Langlois; great-great granddaughter, Chyla Morales; brothers: Willard H. Douglas, George H. Douglas, and Joseph R. Douglas; and sister, Frances Rhudell Gundy. SERVICES for Elease will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Discovering Christ Church, 2330 Holton Rd., Muskegon, MI 49445. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in East Dalton Oakhill Cemetery next to her husband, Berchel. MEMORIALS to Discovering Christ Church (to go towards the Alaskan Mission Trip) or the Muskegon Rescue Mission will be appreciated.
