Mrs. Elia Escareno Belmarez, age 94, passed away September 9, 2020 in Muskegon. She was born November 19, 1925 in Strawn, Texas. Elia cherished her family and friends, she loved her flowers and plants, and she enjoyed needle pointing, crocheting and ceramics. She attended Oak Crest Church of God. The family’s words to sum up Elia: caring, loving, pure and beautiful. The former Elia Escareno married Salome Belmarez, Sr. and he preceded her in death on February 25, 1984. Survivors include her sons, Salome (Nina) Belmarez, Richard (Jackie) Belmarez; grandchildren, Marlo (Dennis) Snyder, Jerry (Shannon Ho) James, Tracey (Josh) Brott, Jared S. Belmarez and Michael Larner; great-grandchildren, Marissa, Ryan Snyder, Elizabeth (Todd) Nelson, Jeric James and Jayla James, Tori King, Reagan Brott, Antonio, Alexis, Gabriel, Ivalia Belmarez, Jazmine Kadelsik, and Justice Hershey; 1 great-great-grandchild, Imani E. Rankin; 1 brother, Jessie (Diane) Escareno; sisters, Eva, Rose, Connie, Susan and Rita. She was also preceded in death by a son David and a daughter Stella. Private family services will be held.
